Tactical Pistol Training II

Real Defensive Encounters Unfold in Seconds, Not Minutes

Tactical Pistol Training II is built around that reality. This advanced defensive pistol course is designed for students who already have safe gun-handling skills, a solid foundation, and the ability to perform basic pistol work including drawing from a concealed holster. This course offers the pinnacle of self-defense training.

The four images below walk you through a scenario from our advanced training video. They show how a defender may have to move from forced compliance to decisive action when facing multiple attackers, close distance, and very little time to respond.

This is not beginner pistol training. Tactical Pistol Training II focuses on movement, timing, threat recognition, decision-making, and using the skills you already have under greater pressure.

tactical pistol training 2
“A group of armed attackers confronts an unsuspecting civilian. He immediately adopts the universal hands‑up posture — a tactical ‘compliance’ position that buys time, reduces perceived threat, and sets up the opportunity to counterattack.”
tactical pistol training 2
“When the lead attacker’s attention shifts toward the wallet being offered, the civilian subtly blades his body, reducing his profile and concealing his draw. This momentary lapse in the attacker’s focus creates a critical opening.”
Retention Shot on Closest Threat
“From close‑quarters retention, the civilian neutralizes the immediate threat at arm’s length. This is a trained response built on efficiency, timing, and a sub‑second draw — the same skills taught in Tactical Pistol 2.”
Two‑Handed Engagement of Remaining Threats
“With the closest attacker stopped, the defender transitions to a full two‑handed grip and engages the remaining threats. Real attacks unfold fast and unpredictably — this course teaches you how to stay ahead of the violence instead of reacting to it.”

Tactical Pistol Training II: Advanced Defensive Gunfighting

Tactical Pistol Training II is where experienced pistol students begin applying established shooting skills to more complex defensive problems.

This pistol course starts by reviewing and refining the fundamentals developed in Tactical Pistol Training I, including grip, recoil control, accuracy, movement, and the concealed draw.

From there, the training advances into true scenario-based defensive pistol work involving faster decision-making, movement under pressure, multiple threats, and changing problems that require you to think as well as shoot.

This is not a casual range day. It is a structured self-defense pistol class for students who already possess safe gun-handling skills and are ready for a more demanding level of training.

A Florida Concealed Carry License can document training and may provide practical benefits, but a permit class does not prepare you for the complexity of a real defensive encounter. Tactical Pistol Training II is designed to help bridge that gap.

What You Will Learn in Tactical Pistol Training II

Tactical Pistol Training II begins with reinforcement of the fundamentals and drawstroke, then progresses into scenario-based defensive application.

  • Review and refinement of grip, stance, recoil control, and defensive accuracy.
  • Further refinement of the concealed drawstroke.
  • Using an efficient concealed draw as part of a complete defensive response.
  • Multiple-threat exercises requiring judgment and prioritization.
  • Movement under pressure, including forward, lateral, diagonal, and retreating movement.
  • Shooting while moving with improved accuracy and control.
  • Rapid target acquisition and smoother transitions.
  • Use of cover and concealment.
  • Recognition of developing threats and pre-attack indicators.
  • Scenario-based decision-making in realistic civilian contexts.
  • Self-defense law discussion and Q&A concerning when force may or may not be legally justified.

Every scenario-based exercise has a specific training objective. The goal is to develop safer habits, better judgment, greater awareness, and more reliable defensive performance.

Who This Tactical Pistol Training II Course Is For

Tactical Pistol Training II is for responsible, experienced shooters who want to advance beyond fundamental defensive pistol work.

If you have completed Tactical Pistol Training I, or can demonstrate equivalent skill, you may be ready for this faster and more mentally demanding class.

This course is not intended for beginners or students who are still struggling with basic firearm skills.

Students should already be able to handle a pistol safely, maintain reasonable accuracy, control recoil, and perform a safe drawstroke without constant instructor assistance.

The emphasis at this level shifts from simply performing individual shooting skills to deciding when, where, and how those skills should be applied.

Prerequisites

  • Tactical Pistol Training I or equivalent experience.
  • Safe, consistent drawstroke from concealment.
  • Solid understanding of the basic shooting fundamentals.
  • Ability to maintain reasonable accuracy while moving.
  • Comfort with rapid follow-up shots and recoil control.
  • Ability to follow range commands immediately and safely.
  • Willingness to be coached and corrected.

If you are unsure whether your current skill level is appropriate for Tactical Pistol Training II, contact me before registering and I will help you determine the correct starting point.

What to Expect From Tactical Pistol Training II

Tactical Pistol Training II is a faster-paced and more mentally demanding defensive shooting class than Tactical Pistol Training I.

The fundamentals still matter, so they are reviewed and refined throughout the course. The difference is that you now have to apply those skills while solving more complex problems.

Expect clear demonstrations, step-by-step coaching, and scenario-based exercises that require observation, movement, judgment, and controlled firearm handling.

You will spend considerably more time moving, problem-solving, and working through changing situations rather than simply standing on a static firing line.

Every exercise has a specific purpose. The objective is to make your existing pistol skills more useful under conditions that demand faster recognition and better decisions.

Why Tactical Pistol Training II Matters

In a real defensive encounter, you may not have time to consciously work through every detail of stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control.

That is one reason the fundamentals must already be reasonably established before beginning this course.

Tactical Pistol Training II adds decision-making and scenario-based application to those existing skills.

Real defensive situations can be fast, confusing, and unpredictable. Training that introduces movement, changing information, and multiple problems can help reveal weaknesses that ordinary static range practice may never expose.

If you carry a firearm for personal protection, this level of training is an important step toward developing a more complete understanding of defensive pistol use.

Common Mistakes This Course Helps Identify

Even experienced shooters can develop habits that become less effective when circumstances change. Tactical Pistol Training II is designed to identify weaknesses that may not appear during ordinary static shooting.

  • Remaining fixed in one location when movement may be appropriate.
  • Becoming overly focused on a single problem while overlooking changing conditions.
  • Failing to recognize or properly use available cover.
  • Losing accuracy when speed or pressure increases.
  • Hesitating when a training scenario changes unexpectedly.
  • Using an inconsistent concealed drawstroke.
  • Failing to distinguish between situations where force may or may not be legally justified.

Defensive incidents may develop with little warning. Recognizing suspicious behavior and developing situations early can be just as important as firearm skill.

Our Tactical Pistol Training II therefore incorporates awareness, judgment, and scenario-based problem solving rather than treating every problem as a shooting exercise.
