With his background in hypnotherapy, he specializes in helping responsible gun owners aged between 21 and 100 build confidence, manage fear, and make sound decisions under stress.
His training emphasizes legal responsibility, real-world readiness, and practical hard skills tailored to the needs of young concealed carriers as well as older adults and families. Donald Jay Shearman, affectionately known as Don, is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor and co-instructor at CCW Training Academy. He works alongside founder and lead instructor Alan B. Densky to provide safe, responsible, and practical firearms training throughout Leesburg, The Villages, Lady Lake, and Summerfield Florida.
In addition to his firearms credentials, Don is an experienced retired diesel mechanic for Marion County Public Schools. His mechanical background has strengthened his patience, attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability, and commitment to doing things correctly and safely.
As a co-instructor, Don assists students with safe firearm handling, shooting fundamentals, range procedures, and the development of greater confidence and competence. His calm and supportive manner complements CCW Training Academy’s structured, step-by-step approach to instruction.
Don and Alan are longtime best friends as well as instructional partners. Their trust, communication, and shared commitment to responsible civilian firearms training help create a welcoming learning environment in which students are never rushed or embarrassed, but are steadily developed into safer, more highly skilled shooters.
