CCW Training Academy works to provide every student with professional, well-organized firearms training and sufficient instructor time. Many classes require advance scheduling. Examples: Range reservations; equipment preparation; and travel. The following reschedule and refund policies apply to all registrations and training appointments. We set our privacy policies to protect our students.
All training must be paid for in advance.
Registration for a scheduled group class is not complete until payment has been received. Class space cannot be guaranteed without payment.
Private training, in-home training, and other individually scheduled training must be arranged by telephone before payment is submitted. Please call CCW Training Academy first so that the date, time, training location, and availability can be confirmed.
Do not submit payment for private or individually scheduled training until the appointment has been confirmed. Discuss your training plan and availability with Alan before purchasing a prepaid package.
Private skill-building instruction packages may be used for in-home or range instruction. Purchased instruction hours do not expire, and future instruction-rate increases do not reduce hours already purchased. Regular appointments are encouraged to support steady skill development. The separate $195 private permit course is not included in these hourly packages.
If you stop training before using your package, the instruction already completed is repriced at the rate earned by the number of hours actually completed, rather than the rate of the larger package originally purchased.

Refund calculation: instruction package amount paid, minus completed instruction hours multiplied by the applicable rate above, minus the prepaid value of reserved appointment hours affected by a late cancellation or no-show. For a late cancellation, half of that reserved appointment value remains as non-refundable training credit, as explained below; it is not included in the cash refund.
For example, a student who paid $1,300 for 20 hours and completed seven hours would be charged seven times $72.50, or $507.50, and receive a $792.50 refund if there are no late-cancellation or no-show charges. If no instruction has been used, the instruction payment is refundable, subject to any applicable appointment cancellation charges.
The existing appointment cancellation rules apply only to hours reserved for the affected appointment, not the entire package. With at least 48 hours’ notice, reserved hours may be rescheduled without losing package hours. If you instead request a refund of unused package instruction, the package refund calculation above applies.
With less than 48 hours’ notice, 50% of the affected appointment’s prepaid instruction value remains as training credit; the other 50% is forfeited. A no-show forfeits only the instruction hours reserved for that appointment. Other unused package hours remain available.
The affected appointment hours are valued at the hourly rate of the package purchased. A late cancellation leaves 50% of that appointment value as training credit only, with no cash refund for those reserved hours; a no-show forfeits that appointment value. Neither counts as completed instruction toward a lower refund rate. Refunds cannot be less than zero; the refund adjustment itself will not create an additional instruction bill.
Travel charges are separate and are not discounted by a training package. For Ares Range appointments lasting two hours or more, the travel fee is waived; it applies to shorter appointments. The waiver depends on appointment length, not package size. Other applicable distance-based travel charges are confirmed before booking.
Range fees are paid directly to the range and are separate from the instruction package and its refund calculation. Contact CCW Training Academy to request a package refund or discuss your remaining hours.
For prepaid private-training packages, the package-specific rules above govern unused-hour refunds and limit appointment penalties to the reserved hours.
CCW Training Academy understands that schedules sometimes change.
When at least 48 hours’ notice is provided, the student may choose one of the following:
When a cancellation or rescheduling request is received less than 48 hours before the scheduled starting time, the student will receive a credit equal to 50% of the amount paid. That credit may be applied toward another CCW Training Academy class or training session.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before training are not eligible for a cash refund.
A student who does not attend the scheduled class or training session and does not provide advance notice will be considered a no-show.
A no-show forfeits the payment for the scheduled class or appointment. No refund or training credit is issued for those reserved hours. For a prepaid private-training package, other unused hours are preserved as described above.
Students who arrive late will receive the training that can be completed during the remaining scheduled time.
The scheduled ending time will not automatically be extended because of a late arrival. Missed instruction may be made up only when the instructor’s schedule permits. Additional time is not guaranteed.
Students should plan to arrive early enough to complete any required range paperwork, waivers, equipment checks, or safety orientation before training begins.
Outdoor firearms training may be affected by rain, lightning, severe weather, range conditions, or other circumstances that could make training unsafe.
When weather or another unsafe condition requires a class to be postponed, CCW Training Academy will contact the affected students. Whenever reasonably possible, notice will be provided at least two hours before the scheduled starting time.
Unless you receive an email, telephone call, or text message stating that the training has been postponed, plan to attend as scheduled.
Training postponed because of weather or unsafe conditions will be rescheduled. A student who cannot attend the replacement date may choose a full credit toward another class or a refund.
CCW Training Academy may occasionally need to postpone or cancel training because of severe weather, an instructor emergency, a range closure, unsafe conditions, or another circumstance beyond the Academy’s control.
When CCW Training Academy cancels a class or training session, the student may choose to:
Some live-fire training requires the use of an independently operated shooting range.
Range fees are always separate from the CCW Training Academy instructional fee and are paid directly to the range.
Ares Range charges $20 per hour. Ocala Sportsman’s Association charges a $10 flat range fee. At Ocala Sportsman’s Association, training is conducted over the firing bench; holster draws and movement drills are not permitted. Training involving Tactical Pistol I and II material, holster work, or movement is currently conducted only at Ares Range.
Students must comply with all rules, waivers, reservation requirements, and safety procedures established by the range.
Only new, commercially manufactured factory ammunition may be used during CCW Training Academy live-fire training.
Reloaded ammunition, handloaded ammunition, and remanufactured ammunition are not permitted.
Students are responsible for bringing the correct type and caliber of ammunition for the firearm they will use unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Students will be informed of the equipment required for their particular class or training session.

By registering for or submitting payment for a CCW Training Academy class or training session, the student acknowledges and accepts these Training, Scheduling, Cancellation, and Refund Policies and infers that they are legally allowed to handle firearms.
Questions concerning scheduling, equipment, range arrangements, or these policies should be resolved before payment is submitted.
