CCW Training Academy conducts live-fire pistol training at three ranges in Leesburg and Ocala, Florida. For most private pistol lessons and concealed-weapons permit live-fire tests, the best range is usually the one most convenient for the student.
Training that includes holster work, drawing from concealment, movement, rapid defensive shooting exercises, or multiple separate targets must be conducted at ARES Training Facility. Scheduled group live-fire and tactical classes are also generally held at ARES.
Please call CCW Training Academy at (352) 459-2471 before paying for private or individually scheduled training. We will discuss your training needs, select an appropriate range, and arrange the date and time.

ARES is the only range we currently use for holster work, drawing from concealment, movement while shooting, rapid defensive shooting exercises, and exercises involving multiple separate targets. Tactical Pistol I and Tactical Pistol II are conducted at ARES.
Scheduled group live-fire and tactical classes are generally held at ARES. Students should always follow the location stated in the individual course description.
ARES requires a reservation. Weekday reservations are normally easy to obtain. Weekend reservations can be difficult to obtain without several weeks of advance notice.
For private training, the ARES range fee must be paid to CCW Training Academy in advance so we can make the instructor reservation. When CCW Training Academy arranges the reservation, the entire training party, including the instructor, uses the range for a total range fee of $20 per hour.
If the student makes other arrangements directly with ARES, the facility may charge $20 per hour for each student and an additional $20 per hour for the instructor.
An ARES member may make the reservation using his or her membership, but the member will be responsible for the $20-per-hour charge for the instructor as a guest shooter.
Students must check in before proceeding to the assigned shooting berm.
ARES requires each student to complete a safety briefing and sign a waiver. CCW Training Academy will send the student a link so the safety briefing and waiver can be completed online before arriving at the range.
Completing these requirements in advance is strongly recommended. Otherwise, the student must complete them at the range, which can reduce paid range and training time unless the student arrives early.

OSA may be used for private live-fire pistol lessons, instruction from ready positions, and concealed-weapons permit live-fire tests.
Holster work, movement while shooting, and rapid defensive shooting exercises are not conducted at OSA. Two aiming points may be placed on the same cardboard target backing, but OSA is not used for exercises requiring multiple separate targets.
OSA does not require a reservation.
The private-training range fee is a flat $10 per student, regardless of how long the student remains at the range. Students pay this fee directly to the Range Safety Officer who handles check-in. There is no separate range fee for the CCW Training Academy instructor.
The exact seasonal changeover dates may vary. Current range hours will be confirmed when training is scheduled.
Students must check in with the Range Safety Officer and sign the OSA waiver before training begins. This normally takes only a few minutes.

Get Directions to R&D Tactical
R&D Tactical may be used for private live-fire pistol lessons, instruction from ready positions, and concealed-weapons permit live-fire tests.
Holster work, movement while shooting, and rapid defensive shooting exercises are not conducted at R&D Tactical.
R&D Tactical does not take reservations. Range lanes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The range is normally very quiet during summer weekdays. Weekends are busier, particularly in the mornings. Because reservations are not available, lane availability cannot be guaranteed.
For private training, students pay the applicable range fee to CCW Training Academy in advance, and CCW Training Academy pays R&D Tactical.
Students must check in and sign the R&D Tactical waiver before training begins. This normally takes only a few minutes.
All ammunition used during CCW Training Academy live-fire training must be new, factory-loaded ammunition of the correct caliber and suitable for the firearm being used.
Reloaded, handloaded, and remanufactured ammunition is not permitted. This rule applies whether the student uses a personal firearm, a CCW Training Academy rental pistol, or a firearm supplied for a concealed-weapons permit live-fire test.
Students may bring their own qualifying factory ammunition, including when using a rental pistol. Ammunition should be brought in its original manufacturer’s packaging so the instructor can verify the caliber and type.
Students who need ammunition supplied by CCW Training Academy must notify us at the time the training is scheduled so the correct caliber and quantity can be brought to the range.
Students must follow all range rules and the instructions of the Range Safety Officer and CCW Training Academy instructor. During every lesson, the instructor supervises the training, enforces safe firearm handling, and is responsible for maintaining a safe instructional environment.
For private or individually scheduled training, please call CCW Training Academy before submitting payment. We will discuss your goals, select the appropriate location, and arrange the date and time.
Before registering, please review CCW Training Academy’s Training, Scheduling, Cancellation, and Refund Policies.
Range hours, availability, rules, and fees are established by the individual facilities and may change. Current details will be confirmed when training is scheduled.
