Will this SWAT officer get there in time to save you?

People of all ages, especially senior citizens, many who were never even open to owning or carrying a firearm, now realize that they must carry a gun for personal protection.

As break-ins have increased in recent years, even folks who don’t want to carry a gun, want to have access to one, at least in their home. Criminals are more brazen than ever before. The burglary rate in Marion County Florida is over three times higher than the rest of the state, according to FLHealthCharts.gov.

It’s believed that in 2025, the chances of being a victim of crime in North Central Florida is higher than it has ever been. You MUST become your own self-defender!

  • The average response time for police is high: The Ocala Police Department aims to respond to the highest urgency (priority-one) calls within three minutes. They reported achieving this goal 74% of the time in 2021.
  • Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO)response times for priority-one calls have fluctuated in recent years. In fiscal year 2019/2020, the average response time was 9 minutes and 2 seconds. MCSO aims to respond to priority one calls within the first five minutes if possible. Response times are impacted by factors such as the large coverage area (1,600 square miles) and population density.
  • While the local authorities are doing a super-human job, when you are being attacked you can’t wait 9 minutes, 3 minutes, or even 1 minute for the police. You only have seconds to protect yourself and your family. In most instances, you have less than 2 seconds to save your life. So, you have to be your own first line of defense. In most cases, the police can only show up long after the crime has been committed, and take a report.
  • Even if you do have a firearm hidden in a holster on your body, you must be highly proficient in quickly drawing and accurately firing your weapon in order to stop the threat. One wrong move and you could end up killing a bystander.
  • In addition, you MUST know the self-defense laws like you know your own name, or you may end up winning the fight, but spending the rest of your life in prison!
  • Unfortunately, even if you fully comply with a criminal, there is no guarantee that he is only going to take your money and valuables and flee the scene. With the proliferation of mental health issues and drug abuse, often the criminal will shoot you anyway, either because they don’t want to leave a witness, or because they are just plain evil.
